Picks by category

Each one starts from a question with a concrete budget or requirement — "under €300", "must print ABS", "must fit a big part" — and answers it with the machines in the catalogue that pass that filter, plus what's worth knowing before you pay: what you give up in that bracket, which costs never appear in the headline price, and when the obvious pick is the wrong one.

How we make these guides

None of these lists is a sponsored top 10. The selection comes from filtering the database by the criterion the category is named after — price, enclosure, build volume — and the ordering follows that same criterion, not whichever link pays best. If a printer isn't there, it's because it fails the filter or because we haven't yet verified its specs against the manufacturer's own page.

What you won't find here is hands-on testing of all 99 machines in the catalogue: we're not a lab, and we say so openly. What you will find is the boring work almost nobody does — reconciling figure by figure what the marketing claims against the spec sheet and independent reviewers, and noting the nuance when they disagree.

Buying your first printer? Start with the guide above. Already clear on the requirement? Go by category. Want to put two specific models head to head? That's what the comparator is for.
